Glorious Easter What a glorious Easter! We began with a delicious breakfast at 8:30 AM in the fellowship hall. It was covered dish and everyone brought delicious food. Thanks to Earline Fulton and the family life committee for decorating the fellowship hall and setting up for the breakfast. We all enjoyed it! Our Easter worship was wonderful. We celebrated the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, with beautiful singing, and words of praise. The choir sang Charles Wesley's great Easter hymn, "Christ the Lord is Risen Today, " and they sang beautifully. Thanks choir! Thanks also to Charlie and Earline Fulton for decorating the altar. The altar was beautiful. Thanks to all of you for providing Easter Lilies. They were gorgeous and fragrant. Thank you for bringing the flowers that made the flower cross beautiful as well. Don Lewis

Note from the Pastor
This week will be busy at St. John's. On Tuesday at 6:00 PM we will have Texas Night Out on the lawn on the seventh street side of the church. This is the time each year when we invite the neighborhood to come have hot dogs and cokes and get to know each other. We will also have visits from city and community leaders and usually one of the fire trucks will be here for the children. This event is sponsored by the United Methodist Men so please come and join us. The regular weekly activities will continue as usual. We are also preparing for charge conference, which will take place this Sunday evening at 6:30 PM in the sanctuary. Our new district superintedent, Dr. Roy James, will preside over the meeting. He wants to get to know us and talk with us about our hopes and dreams for St. John's UMC for the future. If you have a report for your group or organization, please bring it to the church office immediately. All reports are to be written and turned in, but they will not be given at the conference. All church members are welcome at charge conference. In order to be ready for charge conference, we will have a short meeting of the administrative council to approve the budget for 2010. Yesterday, was dedication day for Investing in the Kingdom. During worship we all brought our dollars, which we gave to the church for apportionments. We then asked the Lord to bless us as we take those dollars and invest them in the next two months. On the first Sunday in December we will return with those dollars and what we have earned with them. You can still take part, even if you weren't here Sunday. Take a dollar and invest it for the Kingdom and then bring your earnings on the first Sunday in December and we will give all that we have earned for apportionments. Don

Come Join Our Choir Back in June we started a new choir. Since finances forced us to reluctantly discontinue the music director's position at St. John's, we had no choir. Leslie Light, our organist, did a wonderful job of providing special music for our worship services, but we missed choral music. It is a new choir because we have both former choir members and new choir members. We sing for the joy of singing. The entire church has been blessed by this choir. I want to thank Raymond Tieman, Carol Franta, Carolyn Francis, Robert Francis, Gena Lemon, Janelle Goodall, and Leslie Light for their beautiful music. By the way, we need you in the choir! Come and join us for rehearsals on Thursdays at 5:00 PM. Don
